The Spreckels Sugar Refinery was the largest of its kind in the world for the first 50 years of its existence. This publication follows the development of the factory, town, company railroad and community life from its beginnings in 1896 through the demolition of the factory in 1993. This title is the second of three Arcadia publications that were produced by staff and volunteers of the Monterey County Historical Society.
